5.1 – Subscription Boss Payment Set Up
Log into your WordPress admin, and go to the SubscriptionBoss menu on the left. Click on the Subscriptions menu option then click the “Add New” button.
The “subscription” can entail either:
- Product With Single Payment
- Product Plan (an initial charge following by a fixed number of equal payments)
- Subscription with a number of ongoing recurring payments of the same value
- A Product and a Subscription
The Subscription may start immediately or have a free trial period. This means that there are in fact a total of nine ways to set up products and subscriptions with SubscriptionBoss
The “Add Subscription” page is displayed:
- Fill in the details that identify the subscription:
- Give the subscription a unique Id (e.g gold)
- enter and a description of the Subscription or Product (e.g Gold Membership).
- Set the PayPal currency which should be your default currency in Infusionsoft
- Only fill in the Initial Charge section if you have setup or initial charge for your subscription that is a different amount then the standard monthly charge and you have set up a separate product on Infusionsoft with that initial charge – The initial charges section comprises:
- the initial charge
- the product id (a number) which should be identical to the product Id on Infusionsoft. To find the Id go to Infusionsoft and click on Setup | Products. The Id of the your product is in the first column under id. Note the appropriate number.
- the product name of the product in Infusionsoft
- the short description of the product in Infusionsoft
- The Recurring Charges section comprises:
- set the monthly amount
- set the program id field to be identical to the subscription plan Id on Infusionsoft. To find the Id go to Infusionsoft and click on Setup | Products. The Id of the your subscription is found by clicking on your subscription and then clicking on the Links tab. The subscription Plan Id cut be copied for the URL that this displayed. Note the appropriate number, not the entire link.
- set the subscription name to be identical or at least very similar to the subscription name on Infusionsoft
- set the subscription description – this appears on PayPal when your customer is making the purchase – this should make it explicit to the buyer that the charge is recurring
- set a payment delay in days if you want to delay billing for a number days (e.g you may be giving the user 7 days to try the subscription before billing them
- In the Order Processing section we identify the action set to run when the user buys the subscription and where to send the buyer next:
- The Order Success action set will typically be the same one used when the buyer pays by credit card
- The Order Failure action set will typically be the same one used when the buyer tries to pay by credit card but fails. (this is optional)
- The URL of the thank you page. This is where you inform the user that he will getting more information about accessing the product/subscription by email. This thank you page can also contain upsells
- Click on the Add Subscription button in the Save section
